The role of the Information Security Specialist is beyond ticking compliance boxes; however, the strategy demands enabling operational and business efficiencies.

Overview:

Education

  • Matric – Essential
  • Bachelor's degree in technology, Business Management - Essential
  • Masters/Management Degree in Technology/Cybersecurity – Advantageous

Experience

7 to 10 years required

  • Technical ability to work across the cyber security technology landscape, i.e., from the end-point to the CLOUD. Defines and establishes directives, ensures standards & processes are defined and meet regulatory requirements and business needs.
  • End-to-end ability to operationalize technology solutions irrespective of platform.

Key performance areas

Identity access management and governance

  • Knowledge Sharing: Designing and implementing innovative Identity and Access Governance (IAG) enabling technologies.
  • Continually improve security and governance processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the controls, with primary focus on logical access controls.
  • Continually improve system capabilities to increase uptime and availability through system integration and process re-design, resulting in less downtime and improving SLAs.
  • Provide SME input into IT and Security roadmaps and future landscapes through the architecture teams and ensure security and governance in current designs.
  • Coordinate Security vendors and internal operational teams to ensure both internal and external SLAs are being met, including Incident Management of Severity 1 and 2 incidents.

Duties

  • Configuration, installation, and support of IAG and other Security enabling technologies.
  • Developing and maintaining up-to-date AS-IS documentation of the solutions.
  • Developing user training for IAG and Security controls and the enabling technologies as required.
  • Performing regular tests to confirm optimal working conditions of implemented configurations.
  • Managing, monitoring, and reporting of performance and other issues.
  • Perform/Automate daily system integrity checks.
  • Responding to inquiries to provide technical assistance and support.

  • Management of budget approx. R280m and Revenue of R100m.
  • Supported by a finance manager.

  • Risk review of the various portfolios, identification, mitigating actions, and ensuring actions are implemented to prevent exposure.

Business continuity:

  • Review of various portfolios and ensure there are continuity plans in place so that business is not disrupted.

People management:

  • Performance management.
  • HC management.
  • Ensuring alignment and focus on the strategic initiatives.

Design, Development and Implementation of various structures and business models.

Business management:

Strong reporting capability and functionally to be developed.

Various stakeholder engagement:

  • Project Professional team.
  • Internal staff.
  • Internal business.
  • Business clients.
  • MANCO members.

Strong Change management knowledge.

Complete incident management life-cycle.
