Purpose of the job

The Fire and Rescue Officer reports to the Business Security & Rescue Manager.

The Fire and Rescue Officer is required to respond to a wide variety of emergency situations on site and in some circumstances off site.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in paramedic and firefighting.
  • At least 3 years' experience in a chemical or similar manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12
  • Ambulance Emergency Assistance Registered with HPCSA
  • Certificate in Fire Technology
  • Fire Fighter 1 and 2
  • Hazmat Awareness and Operational
  • Confined Space Rescue
  • Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
  • Pump Driver / operator
  • C1 category driving license or higher (EC-1, C or EC)

Knowledge and Skills

  • Risks Assessment
  • Relevant legislation and regulations (e.g. OHS Act and regulations)
  • Local municipality by laws
  • All relevant SANS- Standards (firefighting and emergency response related)
  • Fire prevention, education or inspection experience

Personal Circumstances

  • Must be able to obtain a satisfactory medical report from the companies' medical centre.
  • May be required to be on Standby

Salary: R .00 basic per annum
