JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Software systems Technician
Location: Midrand, Gauteng
Job type: Contract
Salary: Negotiable according to skill

Job Objective:
The Software systems Technician purpose is to assist in the running of projects under the guidance of the Project Engineer & Project Manager which shall include meter installations, electrical fault finding, network & systems analysis, system maintenance, systems support, systems presentations, technical reviews and quality activities for the Department.
Providing a high level of customer service to the client & customer in regard to the project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Scripting using PowerShell and bash commands
2. Data analysis, visualization and validations
3. Proactively identify any risk ahead of application support processes e.g. changes, optimization, maintenance batch uploads etc
4. Manage oracle and MySQL server databases and execute command queries
5. Manage systems applications and integrations
6. Accurately and efficiently undertaking investigations, and or design work under the direction of the Project Engineer / Project Manager including obtaining information relating to the assets and entering this data into Hexing systems
7. Give holistic system support to our different clients for both electrical and water systems which include and are not limited to adding configuring, commissioning, and decommissioning of devices
8. Check the health of different systems for different clients of both hexing electrical and water systems
9. Carry out systems preventive maintenance and diagnostics
10. Site visits for problem analysis, solving, planning and implementation
11. Responding promptly to emergency callouts from time to time
12. Accurately allocating chargeable time to each project
13. Acting as an ambassador for Hexing, going above and beyond to provide both internal and external customers with exceptional service at all times
14. Working together as a team to get the job done
15. Identifying areas for personal and professional development
16. Assisting the Projects & Operations Departments in responding to an emergency
17. Taking all practicable steps to ensure personal safety and the safety of others while at work, in accordance with Hexing's Health and Safety policies, procedures and systems
18. From time to time, you may be required to undertake duties in addition to those outlined but which fall within your capabilities and experience

Job Requirements:
1. Educational Background
- Bachelor's degree in information technology
- National Diploma in information technology
- Matric

2. Work Experience
- 1+ years of software development and experience of technical support.
- Expertise in using tools like postman and soap UI.
- Proficiency in Linux server administration
- Holds a full SA Driver's License with no restrictions.
- Previous experience in Metering systems would be an added advantage.

- Be a willing and enthusiastic member of the Project team.
- Is flexible – able to adapt easily to changing work requirements – helps out where needed and is customer focused.
