Job category: Media, Advertising, PR, Publishing and Marketing Location: Cape Town Contract: Permanent Remuneration: Market Related EE position: Yes About our company Clicks Group Introduction We are seeking a driven, experienced Senior Media Buyer to take full ownership of all traditional media channels across the business, including TV, radio, outdoor, print, and leaflet distribution. This role is critical to executing high-impact marketing campaigns that drive revenue, strengthen vendor partnerships, and elevate our brand presence both locally and regionally. The role will be based at Head Office in Cape Town and report to the Brand Executive. Job Objectives: Media Buying & Planning: Sole responsibility for planning, buying, and optimising media space across TV, radio, outdoor, print, and online and main contact with the media agencies Develop media costings and supply accurate budgets for potential campaigns. Create clear, concise copy instructions for media bookings and ensure all bookings adhere to contracts. Campaign Execution & Coordination:Liaise with campaign owners and account managers to ensure timely ad execution. Send flighting schedules to TV/radio stations and monitor campaign delivery. Lead the booking of advertising materials for Advertising Advisory Committee reviews. Produce chase lists and perform post-campaign analysis comparing actual vs. projected flightings. Manage finance-related activities including requisitions, PO release, invoice verification, and monthly reconciliation. Resolve supplier billing and payment challenges, improving operational processes and vendor relations. Maintain rigorous budget control and cost efficiency with a strategic financial stewardship mindset. Build and maintain strong client and media vendor relationships, negotiating preferential rates and added value to maximise budget impact. Act as media strategist and advisor for Brand and Loyalty teams, optimising marketing spend and campaign effectiveness. Collaborate cross-functionally with Research, Store Operations, and Regional Managers to align media strategies with customer insights and trading priorities. Innovation & Regional Leadership:Modernise traditional media approaches to stay relevant in a changing media landscape. Oversee and lead traditional media campaigns in key African markets, driving targeted growth and customer engagement. Reporting & Research:Prepare detailed information for weekly media scorecards and reports. Partner with research teams to develop data-driven attribution models that track media performance within the marketing mix. Experience and Knowledge Required 5-8 years media buying experience, preferably with retail exposure. Solid understanding of target market segmentation and media consumption behaviours. Experience with Telmar and SAP systems is advantageous. Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Post-matric qualification in Marketing and/or Media. Skills and Characteristics Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills. Dependable, proactive, and a logical thinker with strong attention to detail. Strong planning, organising, and teamwork capabilities. Ability to learn quickly and adapt to evolving media trends.
