We have the following position available in Roodepoort: Fitter and Turner – Roodepoort (Temporary to Permanent) Location: Roodepoort, Gauteng Contract Type: Temporary (with potential for permanent placement) Rate: Up to R130/hour Start Date: Urgent / Immediate Role Overview We are urgently seeking a skilled and reliable Fitter and Turner for a temporary assignment based in Roodepoort. The successful candidate will be responsible for fitting, assembling, and maintaining mechanical components and systems. This role may transition into a permanent position based on performance and operational needs. Key Responsibilities Perform fitting, turning, and machining tasks to specification Assemble and install mechanical components and systems Conduct fault finding, repairs, and preventative maintenance Operate lathes, milling machines, and other workshop equipment Read and interpret technical drawings and job cards Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards Complete job reports and communicate effectively with supervisors Minimum Requirements Recognized Trade Test Certificate as a Fitter and Turner Minimum 3 years’ post-trade experience in a production or maintenance environment Strong mechanical aptitude and precision machining skills Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Own transport or reliable commute to Roodepoort Available to start immediately Key Competencies Attention to detail and accuracy Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability Ability to work independently and in a team Commitment to safety and quality Good communication and time management skills Working Conditions Workshop and plant-based environment May involve shift work or overtime depending on operational needs Physically demanding; requires manual handling and standing for extended periods
