Position Environmental Officer D1 SF Location: Amandelbult Complex, Thabazimbi, South Africa Level: D1; reports to Environmental Specialist Closing Date: 19 November 2025 Job Description The role of the Environmental Officer is to support the Environmental Advisor (General)/Environmental Superintendent/SHE manager/specialist in the execution of their work accountability and through execution of day‑to‑day tasks needed to maintain the operation's environmental management system. Roles and Responsibilities Conduct effective safety shares at the start of all meetings Execute day-to-day tasks needed to maintain the operation's Environmental Management System (EMS‑ISO 14001) Oversight of site Environmental Interns’ day‑to‑day work management Conduct environmental inspections and take action to address outcomes, including development of short‑term improvement plans Maintain a list of material environmental risks and implement & verify critical controls for each risk Assist with internal and external communications and engagement obligations regarding site environmental compliance, including hosting regulatory site visits and preparing reports Accurately capture environmental compliance data on relevant systems (including inspections and audit programs) Complete environmental incident reporting and investigations Assist with environmental impact assessments and the Environmental Monitoring Program Assist with environmental awareness training and develop training and awareness programmes and materials Perform environmental training and awareness drives with employees, contractors and local communities Conduct internal audits for environmental license and permit compliance Support the implementation of improvement plans to address identified compliance gaps Identify, classify and report environmental incidents and hazards across the site Take part in investigations of environmental incidents as per procedure/plan Monitor progress against environmental targets and key risks Provide input on environmental reports for meetings as required Support regular meetings with regulators/authorities and local communities Qualifications Diploma or Degree in Environmental Management or Environmental Science Completed relevant short courses such as Environmental Law, ISO14001 and Auditing Experience At least 3 years’ working experience in a mining‑related field Knowledge and Skills Computer literacy: MS Office Valid driver’s licence What We Offer Meaningful work in a high‑performance, values‑led environment Market‑aligned reward and recognition Opportunities for learning, development and progression A culture that respects diversity and encourages innovation A clear commitment to safe operations Inclusion and Diversity Valterra Platinum is an equal opportunities employer.
