Application Performance and Monitoring Specialist Join to apply for the Application Performance and Monitoring Specialist role at BETSoftware. Location: Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Responsibilities Deploy and configure agents across applications, servers and cloud environments. Utilize monitoring tools such as SonarQube to guide product teams across BET. Set up monitoring dashboards, alerts and reports. Develop and implement custom monitoring tools and scripts to meet business and client needs. Analyse application performance, infrastructure health and network traffic. Identify and diagnose bottlenecks, slow transactions and system failures. Conduct in‑depth investigations to diagnose and resolve technical problems. Perform system capacity monitoring and planning, managing system availability. Provide recommendations to optimise application and system performance. Analyse complex system issues and troubleshoot problems using advanced diagnostic techniques. Implement synthetic monitoring for proactive issue detection. Leverage AI‑driven insights to predict and prevent issues before they impact users. Automate monitoring and alerting using reporting tools and AI capabilities. Integrate Dynatrace with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Kubernetes and Ansible. Compliance and Best Practice Use logs, traces and metrics to provide end‑to‑end observability. Monitor security vulnerabilities using Application Security tools. Ensure compliance with organisational and industry standards. Staying up to date with Governance and guidance best practices. Perform any ad‑hoc tasks as required. Collaboration & Reporting Work with developers, operations and security teams to resolve incidents. Generate reports and insights for management and stakeholders. Complete training and development to integrate effectively in all teams. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify areas for improvement and optimise monitoring processes. Present findings and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders on a regular basis. Qualifications A completed or studying towards a degree or diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems or a related technical discipline. A strong foundation in computer systems, software development and IT principles. At least 2 years working experience in Application Performance Management, application monitoring, infrastructure monitoring, network administration, system administration, performance engineering/testing or Java/.NET development/support/operations. Understanding of ITSM frameworks such as ITIL (optional). Familiarity with APM, infrastructure monitoring and analytics tools including Dynatrace. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or other containerisation and orchestration tools. Understanding of software engineering, software development lifecycle (SDLC) and object‑oriented programming (OOP). Knowledge of languages such as C#, JavaScript and other JavaScript frameworks (advantageous). Understanding of distributed applications, web, enterprise applications and database technologies such as MS SQL (important). Previous consulting or project management experience (advantageous) – focus on communication and stakeholder engagement across product teams. Knowledge of cloud and infrastructure technologies such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, VMware is highly recommended or advantageous.
