JOB TITLE: Junior Technical Asset Manager MANAGER: Technical Asset Manager LOCATION: Johannesburg ROLE OVERVIEW The Junior Technical Asset Manager will support the Asset Management team in monitoring, analysing, and reporting on the operational and financial performance of our solar assets. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, analytical professional eager to grow in the renewable energy sector. You will play a critical role in ensuring that our solar sites consistently operate at peak performance, issues are resolved quickly, and stakeholders have clear visibility of portfolio health. PREFFERRED SKILLS Strong analytical and numerical skills with demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel, Power BI and data analysis tools. Familiarity with solar energy systems, components, and performance monitoring platforms. Proven track record of analytical aptitude. Strong problem-solving ability. Self-starter with high levels of initiative and motivation. Understanding of diverse technical service offerings in renewable energy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks. High level of accountability and attention to detail. Strong presentation and reporting skills. Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Electronic or Software Engineering, BTech, or related field. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Minimum 1–2 years of professional experience in asset management, engineering, operations & maintenance (O&M), or project management in the renewable energy sector. Previous experience in solar asset management is advantageous. Knowledge of contractual compliance requirements and stakeholder management. Must be proficient in English (written and verbal). Must be computer literate (MS Office Suite, Google Workspace and Power BI). The ideal candidate will have to be passionate about the renewable energy industry and will embody respect and responsibility in the full sense of the word, while enjoying contributing to a team of highly knowledgeable professionals DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Technical Asset Management Monitor and track daily, weekly, and monthly performance of BOO solar sites on VCOM & Copper/Vision. Conduct root cause analysis of downtime or inefficiencies and escalate to O&M providers. Oversee the management of warranties, spare parts, and contractor deliverables. Assist the Technical Asset Manager (TAM) with risk assessments, technical audits, and compliance reviews. Contribute to portfolio optimization initiatives with senior engineers and managers. Liaise with O&M contractors to ensure timely resolution of technical & commercial issues. Regulatory approval tracking. Perform the performance liquidated damage calculations monthly. Manage handover to Operations & Maintenance department. Track cleaning and technical inspections done by the operations & maintenance provider. Manage Off-taker handover pack received from EPC contractor. Assist in energy billing queries. Assist with consolidating data from engineers for the 7-day performance test. Troubleshooting technical problems with O&M Technicians or relevant department. Manage small work projects (Solar PV expansion projects, yield optimisation projects, remedial works projects). Register sites with export energy on the relevant Municipality/ Eskom Feed in Incentive Schemes. Ad hoc request as required by line manager. Lifecycle Project Management Manage handover pack from Business development to Asset Management. Manage handovers from construction/commissioning into operational phases. Track performance of Build, Own and Operate (BOO) projects during early operations. Track variation orders during construction phase of a project. Understand gateways during the Project Life Cycle and contribute to optimizations during design stage. Reporting and Analysis Assist in preparing and deliver regular asset performance reports (bi-weekly). Maintain O&M documentation on the document management system. Assist with production yield variance analysis and red-flag reporting. Facilitate stakeholder reporting and presentations for internal and external audiences. Revamp monitoring platforms (Meteocontrol, VCOM and Copper) with key KPI’s for performance tracking. Prepare ad hoc analysis and reports as requested by the line manager.
