Senior Mechanical Designer

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • National Diploma in Mechanical with 3 years machine building experience or BSc/BEng
  • Mechanical/Mechatronic/Elec-Mech or higher in an engineering or science-related field.
  • 5 years of experience actively using CAD software (and a passion for it).
  • Good understanding and practical ability for G&D tolerancing and engineering calculations.
  • Excellent computer literacy skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Good Project management skills.
  • The ability to be self-motivated, work individually and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Duties:
  • Visit and talk directly with customers during the implementation and support phases of their projects.
  • Design & detail equipment based upon customer requirements and within the guidelines of senior design engineers.
  • Perform R&D to determine existing methodologies to solve specific problems, or to find similar methodologies and adapt accordingly.
  • Perform design FMEAs.
  • Source and manage suppliers for components used within your design.
  • Ensure project milestones are met.
  • Be part of the equipment commissioning team.
