AltGen is seeking a site-based Site Engineer to join a PV plant in Thabazimbi. The role involves assisting in the management of plant operations, overseeing contractors, and supporting the plant’s budget management. This is a site-based role in Thabazimbi. Responsibilities Manage day-to-day operations of a 100 MW solar plant, ensuring safe, reliable, high-performance output. Monitor daily plant performance, identify deviations, and coordinate timely corrective actions. Conduct regular site inspections and oversee maintenance quality to optimise energy yield and availability. Manage key contractors, including the Plant Operator, to ensure service quality and contractual compliance. Engage with Eskom, the DoE, lenders, shareholders, and internal teams to ensure clear communication on performance and risks. Prepare monthly and quarterly operational reports covering production, availability, outages, and SHE performance. Analyse operational data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities. Ensure full compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Support and maintain the site’s ESMS and SHE standards. Support operational budgeting, contractor invoice reviews, and commercial management of site contracts. Support planning, execution, and integration of plant upgrades into operations. Requirements 2–4 years of experience in site management for a PV plant Tertiary qualification in Engineering Willingness to relocate to site Strong understanding of solar PV plant operations, performance monitoring, and fault identification Experience working with contractors and managing on-site service partners Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including SLAs, electrical drawings, reports, and contractor scopes Proficiency in data analysis, performance reporting, and the use of monitoring/SCADA tools Knowledge of SHEQ standards, safety protocols, and environmental compliance in utility-scale energy operations Seniority level Associate Employment type Full-time Job function Services for Renewable Energy #J-18808-Ljbffr
