A reputable accounting firm in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, in their search for a skilled and meticulous Accounting Manager. This role is perfect for a professional with a robust accounting background and a talent for leading and mentoring a team. The firm offers a supportive and dynamic work environment where your expertise will contribute to the continued success of the team and the clients they serve.

 

Requirements:

  • BAcc, BCom Accounting, BCompt, or an equivalent degree.
  • Completed articles with a medium or small firm preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-SAIPA articles experience.
  • Proficiency in CaseWare, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting systems such as Pastel, Sage, and Xero.
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Afrikaans (non-negotiable).
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work overtime to meet client deadlines.
  • Own transport and a valid driver’s license.

Duties:

  • Writing up more complex accounting records for clients on Pastel and Xero.
  • Reviewing monthly bookkeeping and VAT tasks performed by SAIPA trainees.
  • Reconciling Debtors and Creditors monthly and training SAIPA Trainees in these reconciliations.
  • Calculating VAT and handling other SARS requirements on a monthly basis.
  • Preparing and reviewing management accounts.
  • Managing and supervising SAIPA staff to ensure goals are met.
  • Providing daily guidance and training on bookkeeping, taxes, and SARS submissions to SAIPA Trainees.
  • Preparing accounting work for annual financial statements.
  • Preparing and reviewing financial statements.
  • Performing independent reviews and preparing tax returns.
  • Reviewing work done by supervised staff before partner review.
  • Implementing and evaluating internal controls.
  • Maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring client satisfaction.
