Reference : SW TC-1Our client, a well-established and highly respected civil engineering company based in Blackheath, Western Cape is seeking to appoint a Candidate Health and Safety Officer with 1–2 years relevant experience in Civil Engineering / Construction environment. Duties & Responsibilities Ensure that any / all sited fully adhere to H&S regulations both physically and administratively. Ensuring proper implementation of the health and safety plan. Ensuring that all accidents / incidents are reported / recorded. Identifying training requirements and scarce skills for the workforce. Conducting Internal Training where required. Requirements Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Health and Safety, or Safety Management SACPCMP Candidate Construction Health and Safety Officer Minimum 1 - 2 years within a civil engineering / construction environment Basic knowledge of H&S and related acts within the construction and Civil engineering field Fully bilingual (proficiency in English and Afrikaans preferred) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Valid driver's license and own transport Computer literate Duties will include, but not limited to : Develop and implement Health & Safety management systems aligned with ISO standards Prepare and maintain Health & Safety Files for contract works Conduct Risk Assessments and implement effective control measures Investigate incidents and accidents, reporting findings to the Compliance Manager Act as liaison between clients, principal contractors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders Perform compliance audits on contractors, site conditions, and systems Lead Health & Safety Committee meetings to address site-related H&S matters Conduct regular site inspections and ensure follow-up on action items Compile comprehensive Health & Safety documentation, including : Site-specific Safety Plans, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA), Fall Protection Plans, Method Statements, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Emergency Preparedness Plans Handle general ad-hoc tasks as assigned by management In return the following are on offer : Market related salary Access to a Certified Health and Safety Officer (CHSO) / Certified Health and Safety Manager (CHSM) as a mentor Facilitation and sponsorship of SACPCMP CHSO registration fees Provision of a company vehicle or a vehicle allowance Please note : Only candidates currently residing in the Western Cape will be considered. #J-18808-Ljbffr
