Senior Specialist Development – Take the lead in designing and building digital experiences that empower our clients and delight our partners. Working with a fast‑paced, high‑performing engineering team in SLGS and Canada, you will build and expose core data products via APIs and events that support global transformation initiatives. Key Responsibilities Build and deploy highly available APIs and services that adhere to internal governance controls and deployment platforms. Operate in a Shift‑Left testing environment, prioritizing efficient, tested, and clear code. Improve supportability and transparency of applications through clear documentation, monitoring/alert systems, and centralized logging. Collaborate with designers, business system analysts, application analysts, and testing specialists to deliver high‑quality solutions. Lead API design and development, mentoring other specialists and developers. Provide estimates and support testing during the SQA phase of projects. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, project managers, BSAs, designers, and developers. Learn existing business, applications, infrastructure, and design patterns to build flexible APIs. Ensure compliance with SLF Information Security Policies in all solutions. Key Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or related field. 8–12 years of progressive IT experience with full application development life cycle. Domain knowledge of Insurance. Experience with Spring MVC, Spring AOP, Spring Boot, Spring Security, microservices design and architecture, containerization concepts. Working knowledge of unit testing frameworks such as Mockito. Experience with databases and ORM frameworks (e.g., Hibernate) or JPA. Experience with SQL and No‑SQL databases such as MongoDB. Working knowledge of GIT and code version maintenance tools such as Bitbucket or GitHub. Experience with OpenAPI specification (Swagger). Strong coding best practices; ability to conduct peer code reviews. Working knowledge of Docker containerization and Kubernetes orchestrations. Knowledge of event‑driven architecture and design (Kafka). Experience with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) tools such as Jenkins, Git, Gradle/Maven, Artifactory. Experience implementing API security (OAuth). Experience with microservice architectures – REST APIs, SQL, configuration, API gateways, deployment to VM/Cloud.
