Introduction An established engineering and manufacturing company specializing in Refurbishment and manufacture of Vacuum Pumps and systems is seeking a qualified and experienced Production Manager to lead their workshop team. The ideal candidate will be a Red Seal Fitter / Milwright with strong technical experience, capable of managing a small, skilled team under high‑pressure conditions while ensuring quality, productivity, and compliance with technical specifications. Duties & Responsibilities Oversee daily production and workshop operations.Supervise and coordinate a small team of fitters, machinists, welders, painters and workshop staff.Interpret and work from detailed technical drawings and engineering specifications.Ensure strict adherence to quality, safety, and technical compliance standards.Plan and monitor production schedules, resources, and targets.Provide hands‑on technical guidance when needed.Perform inspections to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality control.Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, workflow, and cost control.Maintain a disciplined, motivated, and productive workshop environment. Desired Experience & Qualification Qualified Fitter (Red Seal) – Trade Tested.2-3 years' management experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.Strong technical knowledge of fitting, pressurised, and mechanical systems.Proven leadership and people management experience.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Excellent communication and organisational skills.Must be detail‑oriented and committed to quality and safety standards.Preferred Attributes : Understanding of pump systems (vacuum system experience an advantage). Background in engineering production, especially metal fabrication or pump manufacturing Leadership and problem‑solving ability.Hands‑on technical aptitude.Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.Team player with strong interpersonal and coaching skills.High stress tolerance and reliability under pressure. Advantageous AdvantageousCNC machining or programming background.Experience in vacuum, pump, or pressure system environments.Knowledge of ISO quality management systems. quality management systems.
