Plant Accountant – Concor Construction Plant Accountant – Join Concor Construction as a Plant Accountant located at Amalgam, Johannesburg. The role is permanent and reports directly to the Senior Plant Accountant within the Plant department. Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates, including disabled applicants. Responsibilities Maintain accounts to produce and provide timely and accurate accounting information. Review monthly balance sheet reconciliation and prepare and manage budgets and forecasts. Perform and monitor all expenditures, journal, ledger entries, bank statements, account activity, and other accounting and financial records. Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information. Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options and summarize current financial status by preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports. Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents and maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures. Maintain financial security by following internal controls and review and process journals, plant hours, and procurement requisitions in JDE. Check monthly financial reports for accuracy and correctness, liaison between head office, sites, and suppliers, and prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements. Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends. Enforce and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures and manage fixed asset management, including regular coordination with site managers, travel to regional offices, review asset management plans, and support the Head of Finance in implementing annual asset management plans. Qualifications Bachelor’s Accounting degree. Minimum 5 years of financial accounting experience. Minimum 5 years experience with any accounting computer software package. Experience in managing a finance and administration function. Experience with general ledger functions and month‑end/year‑end close process. Experience with creating financial statements and completion of tax calculations and tax returns. Strong technical expertise and proven track record in fixed assets management. Conversant in the JDE operating system is an advantage. Key Skills Excellent financial reporting skills and knowledge of basic accounting procedures, principles, and reporting standards. Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word & Outlook). Strong interpersonal and communication skills and well‑experienced in reconciliation. Strong ability to prioritize and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills and work independently as well as part of a team.
