Mission / Core purpose of the Job The Chief TechnologyOfficer is responsible for : Network Engineering, Planning, Development, Testing, Optimization and level 2 support for MTNSA Issuing engineering guide lines for the design, development and implementation of the MTNSA’s Radio and Fixed Access, Core Network, IP&Transport, OSS, Mediation and Service Platforms. Defining standards, methodologies, tools and applications relevant to Network Design and Planning, monitoring and optimizing network quality KPI so to achieve targets in line with company objectives. Ensuring scouting, analysis and testing of new technologies to support the business evolution Key Activities & Responsibilities Internal Perspective (20%) Define the evolution strategy for all network domains, ensuring alignment with business objectives and the strategic plans of other departments Select Network Planning, Optimisation and Monitoring tools for MTN SA. Enable the introduction of advanced solution to support E2E network automation so to gradually automate network planning, development and assurance through the introduction of a closed loop architecture, Oversee the design and implementation of the Telco Cloud Infrastructure for the new virtualized and cloud native network functions Ensure Level 2 support so to allow timely identification of faults, root causes and resolutions to ensure e2e service availability and customer satisfaction in line with the company’s targets Ensure successful implementation of new technologies across the MTN SA network Oversee provider relations, monitor SLAs and direct all provider services Define architecture and functional capabilities to enable Network as a Service offering across MTN SA Accountable for technical specifications overseeing network design, implementation, capacity expansion, security. Financial Perspective (20%) Drive increase in Shareholder return by ensuring that technical evolution is aligned to achieve all elements on the business score card. (Eg. Grow Market Share, Grow ICT & Data Revenue, Increase EBITDA margins, Assure Revenue, CAPEX Returns Management and Net Subscriber Additions) Champion / Sponsor the review of Business Processes (headcount, process optimization, business optimization , to drive efficiency gains to ensure at least 5% reduction in MTNSA’s budget year-on-year Champion Contract negotiations to reduce cost and drive MTNSA Value Creation Philosophy Propose budget to provide effective Network Performance and Monitoring services and control and monitor division’s expenditure, in accordance with approved budget and associated rules and procedures Ensure processes and services are effective and manage resources as allocated in a cost effective and financially disciplined manner Customer Perspective (20%) Serve MTNSA’s customers and provide solutions to improve the customer experience Promote solutions that enable seamless cross-functional workflow as well as company-wide knowledge sharing and collaboration Improve MTNSA’s Net Promoters Score Drive planned strategy for the successful delivery of MTNSA transformation initiatives focusing on Customer centricity, Stakeholder Perspective (20%) Deliver business value through strategic partnerships / alliances with MTNSA’s Ecosystem Partners Manage ecosystem ,through effective stakeholder management, to achieve business objectives (value creation), brand value & corporate positioning Ensure that MTNSA maintains a public persona of accountability and is a corporate citizen of good standing, for example, participating in corporate social responsibility initiatives, leveraging economic systems to benefit non-customers and championing social upliftment programmes Develop / reform relationships with MTNSA’s internal and external customers to transform the MTNSA’s revenue. Establish and maintain effective corporate relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers in South Africa People (Learning & Growth) Perspective (15%) Continuously seek self-professional development to hone skills and capabilities in a versatile and evolving digital landscape Identify, evaluate and track the development needs and performance of staff within the division, providing opportunities for staff to build on the company’s investment in their training and improve productivity. Coach and mentor the Network team to ensure understanding of the objectives and goals of the division, awareness of all related job requirements and accountabilities and leverage human resources through the deployment of robust people management practices. Education, Skills and Experience Education 4 year tertiary qualification and in Masters Technology Systems (Telecommunication Management / Information Technology) or MBA Experience Minimum 15 years’ experience including : At least 5 years strategic management experience in a Telco or Digital Business At least 3 years’ experience in relevant sector / industry Experience working in a global / multinational enterprise with a good understanding of emerging markets Skills Fluent in English Ability to manage large budgets effectively Knowledge of latest technological advances Technical competency Business Sense Mentor / Leader #J-18808-Ljbffr
