Job Knowledge Skills and Experience Lecturer Masters in either Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. All underpinning qualifications must be in Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. At least 2‑years relevant teaching experience in higher education and/or 2‑years industrial experience in Maritime. Seagoing Certificate of Competency Class 1 or Class 2 or EOW A minimum of 12 months' sea time after the date of issue of the CO, in rank as 2nd Engineer. A registration with a relevant professional body is recommended. Junior Lecturer A Postgraduate Diploma /Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Honours) /PG Dip/ NHD /BTech degree in Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. At least 2‑years relevant teaching experience in higher education and/or 2‑years industrial experience in Maritime. Seagoing Certificate of Competency Class 1 or Class 2 or Class 3. A minimum of 12 months' sea time after the date of issue of the CoC. A registration with a relevant professional body is recommended. Important notes Preference will be given to an appointment at the higher level. Successful applicants for the Junior Lecturer post to commit to studying towards and completing Masters within 5 years of appointment. Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities Assisting with the coordination of all academic activities relating to, but not limited to: Bachelor of Marine Engineering. Teaching & learning. Curriculum development. Academic development. Academic administration. Conducting research. Participation in SAMSA/EMSA/CHE or any other accreditation. Participation in Quality Assurance activities. Participation in Industry Advisory Committees & partnerships. Personal & professional development. Assisting with WIL and planning of service-learning initiatives. Assisting with recruitment, admissions & marketing as is reasonably required by the HoD: Maritime Studies & Survival Centre. Familiarising and incorporating utilisation of the onsite Simulator in training programs. Competencies Language proficiency: English and any other official language, Sound inter‑personal skills, Good coaching & mentoring skills. Student focused. Strong teambuilding and leadership skills.
