We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Rehabilitation Care Worker to join our dynamic team. This role is central to our mission, working under the supervision of registered occupational health therapists to deliver essential rehabilitation programs within our community. You will empower clients to regain independence, improve their quality of life, and facilitate their full inclusion in the community of Athlone. Key Responsibilities : Facilitate Rehabilitation Programs: Assist with assessments and deliver planned therapeutic activities for our clients, including mobility training, strengthening exercises, and pressure care. Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Retraining: Guide and support clients in relearning essential life skills, from personal care (bathing, dressing) to community‑based tasks, promoting independence within their own homes and in Athlone. Adaptive Techniques & Devices: Teach and demonstrate the use of assistive devices and adaptive methods to help clients engage more fully with community life. Promote Community Inclusion in Athlone: Actively participate in initiatives that support clients' social reintegration, including asset mapping within the Athlone community and building pathways for clients to access local services and groups. Maintain Accurate Records: Keep detailed, up‑to‑date client records in line with organizational and regulatory standards. Team Collaboration: Work closely with the YMCA team and external health professionals, reporting observations and any changes in a client's condition. Who You Are (Qualifications & Competencies) : Community Focus: A strong desire to support and empower individuals within the Athlone community. Knowledge: An understanding of common medical and mental health conditions is a strong asset. Core Skills: Excellent observation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficient in facilitating both individual and group activities. Personal Attributes: Respectful, supportive, encouraging, patient, confident, and flexible. Experience: Previous experience in a care worker, support worker, or rehabilitation role is preferred. Qualifications: A relevant diploma or certificate (e.g., Healthcare Support, Social Care, Rehabilitation Assistant) is desirable. A genuine passion for helping others is essential.
