Responsibilities Work collaboratively with all ICT functional areas to ensure solutions can be consumed using innovative digital platforms. Research, analyse and design proof‑of‑concept solutions using digital technologies. Assist in the preparation and documentation of solution requirements and specifications for new and existing digital solutions. Assist in preparation of documentation to enable handover of solutions to other support teams. Research emerging application development best practices, languages and standards. Participate in the delivery of Solution/ Application Architecture deliverables. Participate in the delivery of Integration Architecture deliverables. Participate in the delivery of Enterprise Architecture deliverables. Participation in the Operational Management of the Application Development Environment includes cultivating and disseminating knowledge of application development best practices. Produce quality technical specifications aligned with architectural standards. Develop optimised digital and mobile solutions based on technical specifications. Enhance and improve existing solutions to become more digitally focused. Ensure quality assurance on work delivered. Perform unit testing. Participate in integration testing and User Acceptance Testing. Enable continuous Integration and Deployment of digital solutions using DevOps principles. Implement best practice standards. Perform production support of solutions (24/7). Perform incident analysis and resolution. Analyse incidents to identify trends and improvements required. Recommend and schedule software improvements and upgrades to reduce technical debt within the environment. Manage applications through their life cycle. Liaise with other technical and operations teams to ensure successful implementation and operation of digital solutions. Contribute to known error database. Contribute to service catalogue. Implement architectural standards. Adhere to governance and best‑practice processes across ICT SDLC methodology. Train, mentor, manage and provide guidance to junior staff. Assist with identifying digital opportunities to enhance and automate business processes. Analyse and evaluate relevant information to support the decision‑making process. Produce relevant reports aligned to outputs. Work according to Agile, DevOps and other supported methodologies. Produce technical and integration specifications based on business requirements. Produce clean, efficient code based on technical specifications. Test and deploy programs and systems. Fix, troubleshoot and improve existing software. Integrate software components based on specifications. Manage change and release management processes relevant to the department and RACI. Take development lead role on projects. Qualifications and Experience B Degree / National Higher Diploma or National Diploma (NQF 6/7) in Information Technology. 5 – 8 years’ experience in direct or related specialised development field. 8 years relevant and solid experience in supervising activities in ICT department, diagnostic and quality of work‑flow and procedures. Low‑level certificates/qualifications concerning quality execution of work, within defined operating procedures, standards and working routines; or provide technical guidance/expertise. Execution of work ensuring compliance with at least 3 years at supervisory/managerial level or specialist experience. Advantageous: Transnet leadership development programme. Required certifications: ITIL Foundation / Service Management / Intermediate levels – Beneficial TOGAF – Beneficial COBIT – Beneficial ISO 20000 – Beneficial Agile – Beneficial DevOps – Beneficial Lean – Beneficial 5 – 8 years’ experience in direct or related specialised development field. (General) Valid driver’s licence. Willing to travel. Willing to work extended and after hours in support of production issues or project deadlines where needed. Requirements of trust and honesty in the handling of finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19. Driver’s licence code 08. Travel as required and approved.
