Job Title Senior Lecturer in Media Studies Organisational Unit University of Mpumalanga -> Teaching and Learning -> Faculty of Economics, Development and Business Sciences Job Primary Purpose The primary purpose of this role is to provide leadership in Media Studies. Key Performance Areas: Leadership: The provision of leadership at the discipline level. Teaching & Learning: Provision of theoretically informed and pedagogically sound teaching based on current research in Media Studies. Research: Research and the production of accredited research outputs; Postgraduate supervision leading to the graduation of Masters' and Doctoral students in the minimum time. Engagement: Participation in learned societies. Some application of disciplinary/professional knowledge and skills to the benefit of the external community. Teaching experience: 5 years at university level. Research: A strong record of research outputs including papers in accredited national and international journals and presentations at national and international conferences. A good record of postgraduate supervision at Masters' level with some of these students publishing their research. Engagement: Participation in learned societies. Some application of disciplinary/professional knowledge and skills to the benefit of the external community. Core Competencies: Discipline knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the theory and application of the discipline. Leadership: Good understanding of principles of leadership and management with well-developed leadership and management skills. Teaching and Learning: Sound understanding of modern theories of teaching and learning in Higher Education and well-developed teaching skills. Engagement: Good understanding of the role of the University in engagement. Personal Attributes: People-orientated, hardworking, responsible, reliable, creative, and innovative. Respectful, honest, punctual, and understanding of protocol. Proven attributes of transparency, integrity, and teamwork.
