Inizio Medical has built a large team of medical writers in South Africa, becoming the leading medical communications company in Africa. We are recruiting for a new intake of medical writers who will start with us in March 2025, working alongside our global teams in the US, UK, South Africa and EU across our three med‑comm agencies: ApotheCom, Nucleus Global and Ashfield MedComms. About the Role This position will give you the opportunity to work on cutting‑edge science with world‑leading experts in a variety of therapeutic areas, and help deliver impactful results for the healthcare community. You will receive industry‑leading, award‑winning training through our Allegro.WRITE programme and, during the first six weeks, a dedicated team will provide training and mentoring focused on developing writing skills, project management, teamwork and networking. Key Responsibilities Research and develop technical medical material. Ensure all outputs adhere to the brief, are accurate in content and editorial style, and are referenceable. Liaise with clients and medical experts on content development. Attend scientific and client meetings where output is required. Generate high‑standard materials with minimal internal review or assistance. Maintain consistent style, grammar, scientific accuracy, proof‑reading, and layout. Ensure writing meets the client’s strategic marketing objectives while maintaining high scientific quality. Manage simultaneous priorities, changing deadlines, and limited resources. Qualifications & Skills Advanced degree in a biomedical subject. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Versatile scientific writing and editing ability. Experience writing scientific publications and conference presentations. Strong project‑management and organisational skills. Excellent quality control, meticulous eye for detail, and strong judgement & problem‑solving skills. Good time‑management and adaptability. Knowledge of pharmaceutical and health‑related issues; solid understanding of human pathophysiology and disease. Ability to learn new subject areas quickly and work independently under limited supervision. Strong client‑centric attitude, working with clients to meet strategic marketing and medical needs. Team‑working ability and skill in forming productive relationships, both internally and externally. IT skills – Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, internet searching. Training & Development During the first six weeks you’ll receive industry‑leading, award‑winning training and individual mentoring that focuses on writing skills, project management, teamwork and networking.
