DP World City of Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa Manager: Transport Operations The Distribution Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the end-to-end distribution function, commencing from loading to reverse logistics to ensure efficient and effective operations as per budget and as outlined per Imperial Logistics Standards. Key Accountabilities Work in conjunction with the Depot Manager to deliver the day-to-day distribution objectives. Drive the implementation of improvements in operating processes and systems. Determine vehicle capacity requirements across both the medium and the long term and plan required for fleet utilization. Ensure the agreed operational targets in respect of secondary distribution network are achieved as per Client contracts. Mitigate risk against people and physical assets (Trucks). Compile the annual budget for distribution department. Report on a weekly basis on distribution KPI’s with the relevant teams to address areas of non-conformance proactively and promptly. Manage COF, fine, driver behavior, vehicle repairs and maintenance, fuel (CPK). Manage costs to ensure decreased cost to client. Coach and support team members where necessary to achieve objective. Conduct regular performance appraisals with subordinates. Champion training and development of the team through the utilization of available training opportunities or by contributing to the development of new training opportunities. Manage and deliver on succession plans to enable the development of a future generation of leaders and specialists. Lead a distribution team and maintain a stable IR climate through a constructive relationship with unions. Manage external supplier relationships and contract to ensure agreed service levels are met. Qualifications Degree or Diploma in Logistics. Skills and Experience 4 to 6 years related experience in distribution. Computer literacy – experience in working on a transport operational system/ accounting system/ relevant customer ERP system, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook.
