Brief Description The Department of Italian Studies is seeking to make an appointment at the rank of Lecturer on a one-year contract renewable to start in January 2026. The successful candidate will play a central role in teaching and research that is theoretically innovative and relevant to media studies in South Africa, Africa, and globally. Requirements Hold at least a Master degree in Italian studies. Have experience teaching Italian language as a foreign language. Experience teaching Italian literature, culture or cinema is a plus. Experience teaching Italian language and culture at a higher education institution in South Africa is desirable. Responsibilities Work with colleagues to maintain and enhance the delivery of Italian language and culture teaching at undergraduate level. Offer wide‑ranging teaching across all years of study. Implement communicative, student‑centred methodologies to facilitate students’ development and growth. Carry out administrative duties for the department.
