Medical Surveillance Technician at Mintek Mintek has an exciting career opportunity for a Medical Surveillance Technician to deliver compliant, high‑quality occupational health screening services, in alignment with national legislation, SANS codes, and Mintek internal quality standards. The Technician must ensure accurate clinical data capturing, participate in continuous professional development, and uphold ethical, legal, and performance standards across all areas of practice. Duties & Responsibilities Perform occupational health assessments including audiometry, spirometry, vision screening, BMI and vital sign measurement, urinalysis, and functional health questionnaires. Conduct and log daily biological calibrations of spirometers and audiometers (SASOHN‑registered; SANS 10154) and perform monthly mechanical calibrations; record outcomes in logbooks. Maintain equipment cleanliness, manage consumable expiry dates, report faults, and halt usage until resolved. Capture all medical data and screening results accurately on IFS; ensure required forms completed and linked; correct errors proactively or escalated. Monitor performance indicators: data accuracy, daily report submission compliance, throughput metrics, calibration compliance, system usage logs. Book appointments for health surveillance, screenings, referrals, and primary health care; manage clinic phone calls; man the front desk; file documents timely and accurately; capture clinic data; email/send letters and reports; manage stock, book meeting rooms, support OH nurses for wellness events. Adhere to SHEQ procedures. Participate in monthly clinical audits and quarterly performance reviews; stay up to date with legislation, technology, and best practices. Desired Experience & Qualifications National Diploma: Nursing or relevant. Minimum 2 years' experience in an occupational health clinic or mobile service environment. Valid and current Audiometry Certificate (SASOHN‑registered; SANS 10154). Vision Screening Certification. Spirometry Certification. Demonstrated ability to operate and calibrate clinical equipment. Skills and Competencies High attention to detail and precision in clinical measurement. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; additional South African languages advantageous. Computer literate with experience using online medical systems. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Time management, initiative, ability to work independently. Team player with professional demeanor.
