Job Description We are seeking a Senior Data & Business Intelligence Developer who can transform complex, multi-source data into meaningful insights that drive decision-making. In this role, you’ll combine strong technical expertise with analytical thinking, working closely with business stakeholders to design, build, and deliver high-value BI solutions. You will leverage your skills in SQL, data modeling, and mathematical manipulation to extract insight from large datasets and present it through engaging, user-friendly reports and dashboards. This position requires both technical depth and business acumen, with a focus on creating trusted, actionable intelligence across the organization. Business Analysis & Solution Design Partner with stakeholders to understand business challenges, performance drivers, and information needs. Translate business questions into technical requirements, KPIs, and performance metrics. Conduct data discovery, quality assessments, and gap analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness. Prototype analytical approaches to uncover trends, correlations, and predictive patterns. Data & BI Development Design and build scalable data models and ETL processes across multiple data sources. Develop intuitive BI reports and dashboards using SQL, PowerPivot, Power BI and Qlik Sense. Apply mathematical and statistical techniques to derive insights, improve forecasting, and support decision-making. Ensure reports are designed with clarity, usability, and storytelling in mind. Collaboration & Mentorship Facilitate solution walkthroughs and demos to validate outputs with stakeholders. Mentor junior team members, sharing knowledge of data modeling, BI best practices, and analytical techniques. Contribute to the development of reusable BI components, templates, and data assets. Governance, Maintenance & Support Adhere to data governance and security frameworks. Perform regular audits and optimizations to ensure data accuracy and system performance. Troubleshoot and resolve BI solution issues, providing ongoing support to business users. Required Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (Honours preferred). 5+ years of experience working with SQL and relational databases. Proven track record in designing and delivering BI solutions. Strong skills in handling large, complex datasets and applying mathematical or statistical methods to extract insights. Experience in stakeholder engagement, requirements gathering, and translating needs into actionable BI outputs. Excellent problem-solving ability with a focus on creating practical, business-focused solutions. Strong communication skills, able to simplify and present technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences. Desirable Skills Experience in a logistics or supply chain environment. Exposure to Enterprise Resource Planning solutions like Syspro, SAP, etc. Knowledge of data governance frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, POPIA). Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Report & Dashboard Adoption Rate – % of targeted users actively engaging with BI outputs. Insight-to-Action Time – Average duration from requirement sign-off to delivery of a solution. Data Accuracy & Reliability – Number of defects or data-related errors reported by business users. Reuse Rate of BI Assets – % of new solutions leveraging shared datasets, templates, or logic. Stakeholder Satisfaction – Business feedback on the relevance and quality of BI outputs.
