We have an amazing opportunity for a Senior Graphic Design Team Leader to be based in Umhlanga, Durban. Do you think you have what it takes to be our newest Purple Star? The successful candidate will lead a graphic design team pod, from concept to execution on all 360 projects, managing daily requirements. The role reports to the Creative Head: Design and collaborates with traffic, copy, and video teams to deliver engaging content. What You’ll Do For The Brand Manage, lead and oversee the design pod team. Serve as liaison between pod heads and other creative HODs to ensure collaboration on project start‑up. Lead the brainstorming, conceptualizing, development and execution of all 360 projects, adhoc projects and campaign requirements. Present creative concepts to broader business teams and management. Manage day‑to‑day creative requirements and business-as‑usual within the design pods. Develop and oversee the look‑and‑feel and quality of all work generated from the design pod. Liaise between designers and other business departments for all design job requests, ensuring briefs are complete with deadlines and scope. Coordinate design work using a job‑ticket system and allocate jobs accordingly (traffic management). Contribute to, implement and ensure work processes are efficient and adhered to within the design pod. Submit daily reports to Creative Head: Design. Conduct team‑member performance reviews. Identify pod‑team skill gaps and suggest learning and development training where needed. Conduct weekly design pod team meetings. Oversee design progress against schedule, priority, brief and deadlines; provide feedback and seek missing information. Ensure 360‑campaign kick‑start meetings are held to conceptualize campaign artwork and understand full scope. Review, approve and present all creative work generated by design pod members before internal approval and delivery to the requestor. Ensure brand guide, brand standards and legal requirements are always followed. Maintain a strong understanding of illustration, typography, layout, powerful copy and good graphic design. Find proactive solutions for design‑team challenges. Maintain design files and stock library. Be an inspiration, mentor and career‑develop the team. Ensure design specs are aligned to job requirements and are print‑ready. Keep up to date with design trends, training courses or webinars and share them where relevant. Work late and travel when required. Attend various company events. Conduct interviews for new hires to the design pod. Develop Brand Guide (CI for various entities).
