Insurance Underwriter required in Menlyn, Pretoria. Our client, a respected leader in the South African insurance industry, is seeking a skilled Underwriter to join their team. This role is central to the client’s mission of prudent risk management. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating applications, determining coverage terms, and pricing policies to balance risk with profitability. We are looking for an analytical professional who thrives on making data-driven decisions that protect the company and serve its clients. Salary: R20 000 + based on experience. Duties and Responsibilities: Assessing and analyzing new and renewal insurance applications to evaluate financial risk. Reviewing all supporting data, including financial records, loss histories, and inspection reports. Determining appropriate coverage, terms, and premium rates within established authority levels. Building and maintaining strong working relationships with agents and brokers. Managing an underwriting portfolio to ensure its ongoing profitability and quality. Staying current on industry trends, regulations, and emerging risks. Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field is highly advantageous. A formal RE (Recognised) Qualification will be highly advantageous. 5+ years of proven underwriting experience within the Insurance sector. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with impeccable attention to detail. Proficiency in underwriting software and the Microsoft Office suite.
