Introduction A leading company in the Fire Suppression Systems industry is seeking a skilled and experienced Engineer for Fire Design and Project installations to join their dynamic team.This exciting role offers the opportunity to work on diverse and technically challenging projects across sectors such as mining, manufacturing, industrial facilities, plants, and data centres.The position involves periodic travel to client sites and is open to candidates based in either Gauteng or Cape Town. Duties & Responsibilities Join a Market Leader in Fire Suppression SystemsHVAC design and Fire plan preparation and submission Sprinkler system design and implementation Sprinkler hydraulics Smoke control calculationsFire detection system designRational fire design with reference to BS and the supporting PDs International sprinkler codes such as NFPA & FM Global Engineering designPerformance based engineering (hands on with the actual engineering side of things)Engineering Project Management of a fire protection system and / or HVAC installationDrafting fire plans according to SANS T and the associated supporting SANS codes, as well as interfacing with the fire departments during the approval process.Performance Based Designs (Rational Designs) - implement an in depth understanding of fire engineering. It is important to understand the concept of Rational Design (not only as a tick box exercise, but in depth understanding). Design and install HVAC and fire suppression and detection systems in various industriesSmoke control design (Fire growth and size, Heat Release Rate, smoke generation and smoke fill rate calculations) coupled with ASET and RSET evaluations. Desired Experience & Qualification BSc (Eng) / BEng / BTech in Mechanical / Civil or relevant Engineering degreeECSA registered as Candidate or Professional (PrEng) Engineer or Pr Tech Eng (Technologist)3-6+ years of experience with the below : HVAC design and Fire plan preparation and submission Sprinkler system design and implementation, Sprinkler hydraulics knowledge preferredKnowledge of international sprinkler codes such as NFPA & FM Global will be advantageous.Performance based engineering (hands on experience with the actual engineering side of things) essentialWell-versed with engineering design software. Knowledge of Rational Design highly recommended.The client may request to see evidence of hydraulic designs (pump and tank sizing) as well as smoke control design (Fire growth and size, Heat Release Rate, smoke generation and smoke fill rate calculations) coupled with ASET and RSET evaluations.Mining industry experience recommended but not essentialOwn transport, valid driver's license and willingness to travel to clients when requiredMedically fit and willing to work on mining and construction sites Package & Remuneration Market related - Negotiable depending on qualifications and experience Interested? #J-18808-Ljbffr
