About the Role
Our client, a rapidly growing mining services company in Polokwane , is seeking a results-oriented Industrial Engineer to lead efforts in enhancing productivity and overall operational efficiency. This role is crucial for optimizing mining processes, improving resource utilization, and implementing best practices to drive cost savings and performance improvements. You will work directly with operational teams to analyze workflows, identify bottlenecks, and implement sustainable solutions. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong background in industrial engineering principles and a proven ability to effect change in demanding operational environments within the Limpopo province.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed analyses of mining operations to identify opportunities for productivity and efficiency gains.
- Develop and implement strategies based on lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Design and optimize workflows, material handling systems, and equipment utilization.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for operational efficiency and productivity.
- Collaborate with site management and operational staff to implement process improvements.
- Develop standardized work procedures and training materials for operational teams.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to address operational challenges.
- Perform cost-benefit analyses for proposed efficiency improvements.
- Stay current with industry best practices and new technologies in mining operations optimization.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations in all improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in industrial engineering, with a strong focus on productivity and efficiency improvements in operational environments.
- Proven experience in implementing lean methodologies (e.g., VSM, 5S, Kaizen).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret operational data effectively.
- Experience with process simulation or modeling tools is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at various levels.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects and drive them to successful completion.
- Understanding of safety protocols and regulations relevant to the mining industry in Polokwane .
