About the Role
Our client, a prominent telecommunications service provider operating throughout the Free State province, is seeking a motivated and skilled Telecommunications Field Technician based in Bloemfontein . This role is hands-on, focusing on the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment and infrastructure at customer premises and network sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high-quality service delivery and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
- Install, connect, and test telecommunication lines and equipment, including internet, phone, and TV services.
- Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on customer premises equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to telecommunications services.
- Respond to service calls and emergency repair requests in a timely and efficient manner.
- Adhere to safety protocols and company procedures during all field operations.
- Maintain accurate records of service calls, installations, and repairs using company-provided tools.
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain services, resolve issues, and ensure satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the technical support team to elevate complex problems when necessary.
- Ensure company vehicles and equipment are well-maintained and properly utilized.
- Provide feedback to management on recurring issues and potential service improvements.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Telecommunications Technician or in a similar field.
- Solid understanding of telecommunications principles and equipment (e.g., modems, routers, fiber optics, copper cabling, VoIP).
- Experience with installation and troubleshooting of broadband internet services.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and manuals.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle physically demanding tasks.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays as required.
- Reside within or be willing to relocate to Bloemfontein, Free State .
