About the Role
Our client, a leading broadband service provider, is looking for a dedicated Field Service Technician to join their expanding operations in Bloemfontein, Free State. This essential role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing broadband internet services for residential and business customers. The ideal candidate will be technically proficient, customer-focused, and possess excellent problem-solving skills. This is a hands‑on position that requires working independently in the field, ensuring customer satisfaction and adhering to high service standards. We are seeking a reliable and skilled individual committed to delivering excellent service in the Bloemfontein area.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair broadband internet equipment, including modems, routers, and fibre optic connections.
- Perform new installations and upgrades for residential and business customers according to company standards.
- Conduct diagnostic tests to identify service issues and perform necessary repairs or adjustments.
- Educate customers on service usage, troubleshooting basic issues, and optimal equipment placement.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently, adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of service calls, work performed, and equipment used via a mobile application.
- Manage inventory of parts and equipment in a company‑provided vehicle.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing customer concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
- Collaborate with other technical teams to resolve complex network issues.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in electronics or a related field is advantageous.
- Previous experience in a field service role, particularly in telecommunications or IT support.
- Proficiency in installing and troubleshooting residential broadband, Wi‑Fi, and networking equipment.
- Familiarity with fibre optic cable installation and termination is a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of basic electrical principles and safety procedures.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adhere to schedules.
- Physical ability to climb ladders, crawl in confined spaces, and lift up to 25kg.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is mandatory.
- Experience working in Bloemfontein and surrounding areas within the Free State province is preferred.
