About the Role
Our client, a significant operator in the Energy industry, is seeking an experienced Lead Production Technologist specializing in Artificial Lift Systems to join their technical team in Polokwane, Limpopo, ZA . This role is essential for optimizing oil and gas production through the effective design, implementation, and management of artificial lift technologies. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of various artificial lift methods (e.g., ESPs, rod pumps, gas lift) and their application in diverse reservoir conditions. You will lead a team of production technologists, providing technical expertise and ensuring maximum production efficiency and equipment reliability. This hybrid position offers a balance of on-site collaboration and remote flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the selection, design, installation, and operation of artificial lift systems.
- Monitor production performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimization strategies for artificial lift equipment.
- Conduct thorough analysis of production data to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
- Develop and implement best practices for artificial lift operations and maintenance.
- Lead and mentor a team of production technologists, providing technical guidance and support.
- Collaborate with reservoir and drilling engineers to ensure integrated well design and production planning.
- Evaluate new artificial lift technologies and their potential application.
- Prepare technical reports, recommendations, and performance reviews related to artificial lift systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in production engineering or technology, with a strong specialization in artificial lift systems.
- In-depth knowledge of various artificial lift methods, including ESPs, rod pumping, gas lift, and progressive cavity pumps.
- Experience with production optimization software and data analysis tools.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues related to artificial lift.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working across multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with well integrity and production safety standards.
