Job Summary:

The Yard Supervisor will oversee daily operations within the yard, ensuring the safe and efficient handling, sorting, and storage of electronic waste. This role is responsible for managing yard personnel, maintaining safety protocols, and ensuring that recycling processes adhere to environmental regulations. The Yard Supervisor will also coordinate with other departments to optimise workflows and meet production targets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and manage the yard team, including scheduling, training, and performance monitoring.
• Oversee the sorting, dismantling, and storage of electronic waste in compliance with environmental standards.
• Ensure all yard operations adhere to health and safety regulations and that proper PPE is used at all times.
• Monitor and maintain yard equipment, scheduling repairs and preventative maintenance as needed.
• Coordinate the loading and unloading of materials, ensuring efficient use of space and resources.
• Track inventory levels of waste materials and finished products, preparing reports for management.
• Enforce quality control procedures to ensure materials are correctly sorted and processed.
• Assist with logistics planning, including scheduling pickups and deliveries of waste and recycled materials.
• Manage waste disposal in accordance with local environmental guidelines.
• Identify areas for improvement and propose solutions to optimize yard efficiency and productivity.
• Maintain clean and organised yard facilities, ensuring all waste is handled properly.
• Collaborate with the operations team to meet production goals and ensure seamless yard-to-plant operations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in yard supervision, preferably in a recycling or waste management environment.
• Knowledge of electronic waste recycling processes and environmental regulations.
• Leadership skills: Ability to manage, motivate, and train yard workers.
• Safety management: Understanding of occupational health and safety standards.
• Equipment knowledge: Familiarity with the use and maintenance of yard equipment (e.g., forklifts, compactors, sorting machines).
• Problem-solving skills: Ability to troubleshoot operational issues and implement solutions quickly.
• Physical ability: Capacity to work outdoors and perform hands-on tasks when required.
• Organisational skills: Strong ability to manage inventory, track materials, and maintain accurate records.
• Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills to liaise with team members and management.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in waste management, safety, or similar fields.
• Forklift or other machinery operator certification.
• Experience with logistics and inventory management systems.
