Responsibilities:Contract ManagementDraft, review, comment on service and commercial agreementsTracking agreementsCollaborate with internal stakeholders to align contracts with business goals, manage risks, define deliverables, and allocate liabilityMaintenance of the contract registerLegal AdvisoryProvide accurate and timely legal advice on compliance, governance, operations, employment, and commercial disputesSupport internal departments with legal input on business initiatives and risk assessmentsLegislative & Regulatory ComplianceMonitor and interpret relevant South African legislation, including sector-specific automotive regulationsDevelop and implement compliance frameworks to ensure adherence to all applicable legal and regulatory requirementsConduct research on various legal topics as required, including but not limited to Advertising Standards, Competition Law, Employment Law, Consumer Protection, Data Privacy, Document Retention and Company LawRisk ManagementIdentify and evaluate legal risks across operations and develop appropriate mitigation strategiesLitigation SupportManage and participate in litigation, dispute resolution, and pre-litigation mattersLiaise with and manage external legal counsel, attend court proceedings and oversee the resolution of legal disputesPolicy DevelopmentDraft and review internal company policies and procedures to ensure alignment with legal requirements and best practicesStakeholder ManagementBuild and maintain effective working relationships with internal business units, regulators, external legal firms, service providers and other key stakeholdersSecretarial function, Shareholder and Board meetings and sub-committee meetingsCross-Border Legal SupportAdvise on legal issues related to cross-border transactions, import/export regulations and international agreements (if required)Requirements:Minimum of 3-5 yearsâ related experience in a role as Legal Advisor in the Motor IndustryRelevant LLB qualification with articles completedAt least 3 yearsâ legal experience in corporate and commercial law or regulatory complianceProficiency in legal research, analysis, contract drafting, and risk managementAccurate, meticulous, detailed, precise and methodicalSound business acumen and good general business skillsEffective communication skillsThe ability to work in cross-functional teamsHigh level of computer literacy essentialSound understanding of information systems (IT) as a business enablerAnalytical thinkingPractical orientationSolid ethics and valuesFrustration toleranceFlexibilityInitiativeSpecial Requirements:Willingness to work overtime when requiredBusiness travel when requiredPotential candidates may be required to undergo psychometric testing Please note only candidates with the required experience will be contacted and considered.
