Intermediate SQL Administrator East RandOverview of RoleThe Intermediate to Senior SQL Database Administrator (DBA) is a key technical role responsible for the management, maintenance, and optimization of SQL Server databases. This position requires advanced expertise in database architecture, performance tuning, security, and disaster recovery.Minimum Requirements:Grade 12BSc Computer Science or equivalent qualification (advantageous)Proven SQL code creation experience | Proven process analysis experienceSystems understanding and test experienceKnowledge:Knowledge of BI development | Experience in SQL / BI solution design and development | Familiarity with integration protocolsExperience in delivering integrations (internal and external)Understanding of business operations and processesProduct Experience:Microsoft SQL Server 2012, 2019, 2022: 510 yearsSQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS): 35 yearsSQL Server Integration Services (SSIS): 35 yearsSQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS Tabular): BeneficialMicrosoft Power BI (On-premises / Premium): BeneficialKey ResponsibilitiesDatabase Administration and MaintenanceOversee installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of SQL Server instances.Apply patching, updates, and conduct regular health checks.Performance Tuning and OptimizationMonitor database performance and identify bottlenecks.Implement solutions such as index optimization, query tuning, and capacity planning.High Availability and Disaster RecoveryDesign, implement, and manage high availability solutions (AlwaysOn, replication, log shipping).Conduct backups, restores, and recovery plan testing | Security and ComplianceEnforce database security policies | Manage user access and permissions.Ensure compliance with relevant data security standards and regulations.Collaboration and Support | Work closely with development, infrastructure, and IT teams.Support application development, data integration, and system upgrades.Troubleshooting and Issue ResolutionProactively identify and resolve database-related incidents.Maintain performance within agreed SLAs | Mentorship and GuidanceProvide technical guidance to junior DBAs and team members | Strategic PlanningContribute to database architecture strategies.Align database management practices with business objectives and technology roadmaps.Salary offer: R45K R60K
