If you possess excellent organizational skills, outstanding people skills, and have a keen attention to detail, we invite you to apply.Job PurposeThe Tax Accountant is deemed an expert on matters related to tax and accounting. This position is responsible for the tax function at our client, calculating, and accurately completing tax returns, giving advice regarding taxation matters, assisting individuals/trusts/companies with tax returns, preparing other statistical, financial, and accounting reports, and drafting working papers.Key duties and responsibilities includeCarry out detailed and accurate computations to calculate tax liabilities/tax returns (complex or simple tax returns)Collating, sorting and processing financial information concerning tax calculations and preparation of tax schedules and drawing calculationsSubmission of all tax-related accurate returns, documents, reconciliations, self-assessments and corresponding with clients to provide feedback on tax affairs, assessments, payments, etc. by relevant deadlinesCompilation of management statements, and annual financial statements and preparing other statistical, financial and accounting reports, drafting of all working papers required for the Annual Financial Statements, Interpretation of evaluation of and reporting on AFSDeal with client queries regarding bookkeeping, AFS, Management Statements, Tax, Income distributions, etc.Manage the administration of Income/Provisional/Employees/Value-added/Dividend Tax/Estate Planning, etc.Correspondence with SARS on behalf of our clients on various matters when applicable, including Objections, Appeals and Alternative Dispute Resolution hearings and other SARS consultations (all tax types)Keep up to date with changing tax lawsTraining team members and supporting their related work responsibilities to ensure that the tax compliance requirements of the clients are met to the high standards we setAssist the whole billing process via Accounting / Practice Software including the keeping of timesheetsPerform any other reasonable work instruction/task and adhere to and generate revenue targetsRequirementsQualification and experienceTertiary qualification with at least 5 years of practical tax and accounting experience in an accounting/audit/financial firmMinimum of 5 years of SARS e-filing, Draftworx, Sage Accounting/XERO software experienceRegistered tax practitioner and or completed 3-year SAIPA/SAICA articles (advantageous)Strong technical knowledge of International Accounting Standards (IAS), International Financial Reporting Standards for small and medium-sized entities (IFRS for SMEs), Companies Act, Income Tax Act, Tax Administration Act, VAT, PAYE and other SARS regulations (inclusive of SARS dispute resolution process)Must have worked with a portfolio of clients, having been responsible for client correspondence (speaking directly to clients to obtain information etc) as well as correspondence with third parties (e.g. banks, brokers, financial advisors).Skills, competencies and attributesExceptional numerical skills/maths skills and analytical skillsCritical and logical thinking and creative problem-solving skillsStrong, thorough and accurate data-capturing skillsExceptional written & verbal communication skills in both English & Afrikaans ability to handle client queries politely & effectivelyProficiency with computers, in particular Draftworx, Sage One Accounting, Xero Accounting, Microsoft Word, Excel and OutlookHigh attention to detail and high level of accuracy / Ability to strictly follow processes and proceduresNegotiation skills and results-driven / Initiate action and take ownership of responsibilitiesAble to exercise independent judgment and reasoningTime management skills/ability to adhere to deadlines/ proactive, a sense of urgency and outcomes.
