Duties & Responsibilities

Production: Regularly walking the factory floor to monitor the performance of factory staff. Implementing applicable Quality Management policies and procedures for production and occupational health & safety. Developing and implementing strategies to streamline factory operations. Ensure that factory equipment is in good working order. Provide sales with feedback on delivery schedules. Develop production reporting procedures - set up and maintain controls and documentation. Collect and analyse performance data to identify and resolve any production issues. Quality Control and Safety: Collaborate with the quality manager to establish and execute quality control processes. Work closely with purchasing staff in establishing quality requirements from external suppliers. Maintain a satisfactory level of housekeeping. Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure that all equipment and machinery is maintained in such a way as to ensure the safe use thereof. Staff Management: Opening the factory daily. Screening, recruiting, and overseeing training of new factory workers. On the job training of staff - both new and old employees in the use of new equipment of production. Enforce compliance with health and safety regulations to prevent accidents and injuries. Responsible for bringing disciplinary issues to HRs attention and issuing various stage disciplinary warnings to offending staff. Motivating factory workers to continually achieve factory targets. General day to day management of staff to ensure a smooth and efficient production process. Direct Report for JHB Branch Office Manager. Work closely with the JHB Branch office manager and give them support where needed to enable him/her to perform their functions as best they can. Logistics: Assessing what stock needs to be moved around to the various branches to ensure a zero stock out situation in those regions. Direct report for receptionist / dispatch clerk. Direct report for driver, if applicable. Daily local delivery schedules, if applicable. Daily freight dispatches. Inventory Management: At all times be aware of raw materials and finished products inventory on hand Model production planning to align with the strategic objectives relating to the number of months stock required on hand. Direct report for the stores man. Oversee raw material storage and handling to ensure hygiene and safety standards are maintained. Communicate with procurement regarding impending or foreseeable stock shortages as well as any extraordinary builds that will require extraordinary purchasing.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Qualification:

Matric Certificate.

A tertiary qualification or relevant course in Supply Chain Management would be advantageous.

Minimum work experience required:

Minimum 5 8 years in a manufacturing environment.

Experience of managing a large team.

Proven experience as a Factory Manager.

Computer literacy is a MUST and preferably SAP experience.

Performance output driven through identified key performance indicators.

Note other duties, in addition to the above, may be expected of you within the Company from time to time within reason.
