Requirements:

  • Matric or equivalent, LLB Degree - Non-negotiable
  • 3-5 years experience in legal and compliance
  • Experience working with Regulators Gambling Boards, FIC and Information Regulator
  • In-depth knowledge of the industry or sector in which the company operates is advantageous
  • In-depth knowledge of the laws, regulations, and industry standards applicable to the company''s operations is critical
  • Understanding the specific legal and regulatory landscape
  • Knowledge of the complexities of compliance principles and methodologies
  • Knowledge of contracts, compliance laws and legal documents.
  • Commercial drafting skills
  • Ability to grasp new laws and concepts
  • Ability to read, analyse and interpret gambling rules and regulations
  • Ability to analyse information and procedures from an operational perspective, identify any relevant concerns and formulate or provide input for solutions
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations and recognise standards required by business
    • Strong analytical attention to detail and quality
    • The ability to be firm in all situations without sacrificing principles
    • The ability to communicate effectively and efficiently at all levels in the organisation

Key Job Responsibilities

1. Legal:

  • Perform legal reviews, draft agreements and provide legal advice and opinions on Company contracts
  • Interpret current and newly promulgated legislative and regulatory statues/acts against internal policy thereby ensuring business practice adherence
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of all operations of the group and the regulatory environment

2. Compliance:

Provide compliance with regards to gambling board legislation and licensing conditions and overseeing gambling board audits

  • Monitor, manage and assess the Companys risk processes in terms of POPIA, FICA and gambling legislation
  • Assist various divisions with regards to day-to-day operational matters insofar as they pertain to legal and compliance.
  • Test compliance against Risk Policy
  • Ensure that all areas of 4Racings business are up to date from a compliance perspective
  • Assist with the monitoring and auditing of compliance with corporate policies and relevant regulatory requirements, including coordination of relationships with various Gambling Boards
  • Ensure that framework and methodology for conducting compliance audits is appropriate
  • Adhere to the compliance audit plan as requested by the various provincial regulators
  • Report significant non-compliance findings
  • Monitor and report on the timeous implementation of audit recommendations

3. Licensing:

Maintain a thorough understanding of all statutory licensing requirements and ensure compliance with all applicable statutes, regulations and agreements.

  • Ensure all provincial licence conditions are met
  • Ensure the timeous renewal and payment of national key employee, totalisator, fixed-odds and race meeting licenses.
