About Risk Intelligence
Risk Intelligence is a specialized team comprising Actuaries, Data Scientists, and Clinicians who collaborate with various stakeholders. Actuaries are responsible for analyzing claims data for Discovery Health schemes, including the largest medical scheme in South Africa. They play a crucial role in managing and understanding the claims experience for these schemes.
Key Purpose
The Risk Intelligence team oversees the measurement and reporting of clinical experience for client schemes. Actuarial support is provided for various healthcare initiatives such as managed care interventions, public reporting on healthcare quality, and provider contracting. As an Actuarial Analyst, you will conduct in-depth healthcare actuarial analysis and deliver accurate results within tight deadlines. You will apply risk adjustment principles to enhance scheme sustainability and efficiency. Additionally, you may assist in pricing new Discovery Health products.

- Actuarial science or Mathematical Statistics degree
- Completion of CT series actuarial board exams
- 1-3 years of data and analytic work experience (Preferred)
- Familiarity with risk adjustment methodologies (Preferred)
- Completion of 8 Actuarial Exams (Advantageous)
