Job Purpose


The Data Science Analyst provides advanced analytical results to business and key-stakeholders by collating, decorating, and modelling data and providing it for correct interpretation for business to use.


Areas of responsibility may include but are not limited to:

  • Mine large datasets and develop rich insights into member behaviour. Data decoration by creating & uncovering previously unknown insights.
  • Identifies key trends in large datasets and interacts with business to understand the impact of these trends and identifies possible actions to mitigate or take advantage of the trends identified.
  • Sources and provides customized data to the business.
  • Analyses and presents data in a way that provides actionable insights, by presenting findings in a practical and interpretable way for the business.
  • Advises on improvement for processes, systems, and databases where opportunities arise.
  • Drives implementation on key projects identified through analytics by engaging relevant stakeholders, ensuring projects progress as planned and conducting supplementary analysis for decision making.

Personal Attributes and Skills

  • Intermediate SQL skills
  • Ability to work with, analyze and report on data
  • Intermediate PowerPoint and Excel skills
  • Knowledge of statistical packages (R, SAS, SSPS, and more that are related)
  • Knowledge of advanced analytics modelling
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to manage complexity
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Commitment to excellence and highquality delivery
  • Ability to deal with complexity, ambiguity and constant change

Education and Experience

  • Degree in either Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Maths or Finance. Other analytical qualifications will also be considered such as Computer Science or Engineering
  • Actuarial Science degree would be advantageous
  • 35 years' experience in a role that involved data analytics
  • Data mining and advanced analytics experience would be advantageous
  • SQL Experience
  • Banking sales analytics experience
  • Digital Marketing experience would be advantageous
