Key Activities
a) Monitoring, evaluation and learning

Lead on the design, implementation, analysis and interpretation of evaluation studies to assess if Tekano's fellowship programme interventions have achieved their objectives, as well as, to ascertain the reach and impact thereof.

Conduct analyses on data collected to evaluate Tekano's interventions, and supervise consultants, where necessary to conduct such analyses.
Disseminate results from evaluation studies nationally, regionally and globally.
Provide timeous feedback on the results of evaluation studies to enhance the effectiveness of programming.
Provide M and E specialist input into curriculum development, evaluate and monitor its effectiveness, relevance and ensure its quality.
Develop a monitoring, evaluation and learning framework that will be implemented across Tekano.
Develop, review and implement policies, systems and procedures that will support Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning work.
Oversee independent programme evaluations.
Prepare the annual budget for all monitoring and evaluation activities, in consultation with the Programmes Director.
b) Learning and innovation
Develop Tekano's overall M&E Plan based on the organisation's approved strategy and MEL framework.
Facilitate and manage reflection and learning across programmes, the development of tools and fellow data management.
Harness the learning from YL and LLFs fellowship programmes.
Ensure that all monitoring tools are used during the Fellowship programmes and all processes are adhered to.
Develop new and transformative tools for M and L (outcomes harvesting, case studies, etc.).

Provide dedicated support to gathering matrices of success (M&E) across the organisation (in HR, Finance, Operations, etc) working closely with the CE.

Support fellows in their own learning initiatives, inputting into learning for the fellowship programme.
Review Fellow innovations and share these within the team and across the programme platform.
Develop appropriate tools to Monitor and analyse the shifts and learnings made by fellows working.
c) Research

Provide cutting-edge research and current thinking on addressing the social structural and commercial determinants of health in South Africa and the global south.

Lead on the research processes supporting the organisation in fulfilling its role as an advocate for improved equity, working with other teams.

Scan external environment for trends and incorporate new innovative approaches into Tekano's M&E ways of working.
d) Knowledge management
Develop a learning and knowledge management system for Tekano and ensure that it is used across the organisation.
Drive and manage initiatives related to the sharing and storing knowledge within Tekano.
Lead knowledge management and produce reports, publications of stories of change in close collaboration with the communications manager.
Collaborate with the communication manager on knowledge management activities ensuring accessibility by all.
Collaborate with other Atlantic Fellowship groups to share knowledge and lessons learnt from past fellowship programmes.
e) Capacity Building
Build MEL skills capacity within Tekano by providing training interventions to staff and the Fellowship programmes.
Promote a culture that encourages innovative thinking, knowledge sharing and learning.
Facilitate regular conversation for management and staff to ensure exposure to new ideas and developments in the MEL field.
Monitor and evaluate staff training to ensure quality and relevance, also consistent standards of excellence.
Create learning opportunities to improve Tekano networks.
Support the CE to organize learning sessions at board level.
f) Stakeholder engagement
Liaise with important stakeholders in M&E and establish and maintain relations
Conduct analyses on data collected to evaluate Tekano's interventions, and supervise consultants, where necessary to conduct such analyses.
Prepare documents and presentations for management, donor and Board requirements.
Prepare and deliver presentations at relevant forums and meetings.
Prepare papers and articles for conferences, journals, magazines, newspapers, books and websites.
g) Ad hoc duties
Any other work allocated by the chief executive and programme director in support of Tekano's objectives.

Collaboration -work collaboratively across Tekano project initiatives/ functions, in a team-orientated organisation to support Tekano's purpose and build the organisation.
