Nursing Services Manager


The Nursing Services Manager is responsible for implementation of all clinical and nursing processes and care at the healthcare facility with the support of the shift leaders who lead the different phases of care.

The Nursing Services Manager also liaises with other health care professionals as well as families and residents.

Key outputs:

  • Set policy, protocols, guidelines, procedures and ensure adherence to SANC professional standards.
  • Ensure that all guidelines as set out by the DOH and DSD are closely observed, implemented, and adhered to.
  • Promote clinical governance and service improvement through the analysis of feedback, adverse events, and other change drivers.
  • Drive and support all quality improvement initiatives.
  • Manage patient/resident/family experience.
  • Provide strong and visible leadership.
  • Promote excellent standards and communication.
  • Manage risk by ensuring adherence to Health and Safety policies.
  • Responsible for developing staff and their duties.
  • Development of Annual inservice training schedule and implementation including but not limited to Infection control, OHS, Nursing Care Plans.
  • Ensure that Infection Prevention Control Protocols are in place.
  • Ensure 24 back up support to the nursing teams.
  • Recruit and retain care and nursing workforce.
  • Ensure correct handling of stock levels and promote cost effective quality care.

Requirements, skills, and knowledge:

  • Relevant nursing qualifications as a Registered Nurse, SANC registered.
  • 510 years of experience in a similar leadership position.
  • Experience in geriatrics advantageous.
  • Managerial & strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent leadership qualities, sound decisionmaking and problemsolving skills.
  • Professional highlevel communication both verbal and nonverbal.
  • Excellent electronic skills.
  • Knowledge of Dementia care, Step Down Care, Frail Care and Palliative care will be of benefit.
  • Knowledge of Human Resource Management, financial and management of similar environment will be advantageous.
