Production Support Career Stream:
Provides support in manufacturing operations and/or distribution centers including assembly, machinery, processing, packaging, and/or distribution of company products. May set up and operate automatic or semiautomatic machines and related equipment in a continuous production/processing operation. Reports any malfunctions or abnormalities in machines, with higher levels recommending and/or adjusting methods and processes. May be involved in shipping, receiving, inventory control, or storage of products in distribution centers.

Performs intermediate activities requiring judgment and decision-making in manufacturing/production operations or distribution center.
Work consists of tasks that are typically routine.

Problems faced are routine and typically exist in current work processes and systems. May be required to highlight areas of concerns / problems in own job area.

Communication and Influence:
Communicates typically with internal contacts within and outside of immediate team.
Obtains and provides information requiring some explanation or interpretation.

Leadership and Talent Management:
May provide guidance and assistance to new or entry level employees.

A Day in the Life

  • Performs a combination of manual and clerical shipping and receiving duties; may work out of a central warehouse.
  • Uses computer system for tracking, logging, verifying and reporting.
  • Follows shipping practices and procedures, and transportation routing, schedules and requirements.
  • Receives incoming materials or prepares materials for shipment.
- (un)packs or (un)wraps items such as finished products, raw stock, assemblies, parts, building materials, office supplies, equipment, etc.

  • Verifies quantity, weight, and conformance of materials to stated identifications; logs receipt of items on system, processes freight bills, packing sheets, and other documents; reports materials shipped and bills of lading; posts weight and shipping charges and routes merchandise to destinations.

Must Haves

  • Previous 24year warehouse inventory/supply chain experience
  • Previous people's leader advantageous
  • Solid PC literacy, Intermediate Excel/ SAP and MS Office
  • Able to work to meet deadlines.
  • Living in the Johannesburg area

Nice to Haves

  • Logical methodical and well organized
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication skills and diplomacy.
  • Good working understanding of the general principal of transport and distribution
  • Good analytical skills
  • Ability to motivate and achieve internal and external goals
  • Understanding of warehouse management systems
  • Good management and proven communication skills
