Main purpose of the job:


The Coldroom / Cold Chain Manager serves as the critical link between the companys clients, sales department, dispatch, and logistics/distribution.


The successful applicant will lead and coordinate all activities of the Cold Room, receiving of stock (finished goods), stock taking, and storage of goods, preparation and picking and loading of cages to ensure timeous and effective distribution to suppliers.


Desired Experience & Qualification:

  • Supply Chain Management or Warehouse Management degree/ diploma required
  • 5 years + experience in warehouse management
  • 3 years in managing a large number of staff (within a food manufacturing / distribution environment)
  • Cold chain/ temperature control Supply Chain experience
  • Advanced Excel (Spreadsheets, Formulas, Programming)
  • Production and processing knowledge, Audit compliance, HACCP, ISO, GMP, OHS, ERP Knowledge of Principles and practices of ERP system

Duties and responsibilities that the warehouse manager has to discharge are as follows:

  • Drive and facilitate the organizations strategy for cultivating a fully engaged and productive workforce.
  • Developing of quality assurance procedures and processes, implementing cost saving systems & practices.
  • Measure performance and employee output against daily targets & company KPIs
  • Maintaining and caring for the warehousing and fridges and assets
  • Managing the sourcing, tracking and reception of products and materials.
  • Full stock/inventory management
  • Evaluating and reviewing the organizations warehouse and fridge operations and business practices, updating, and developing process documentation, streamlining opportunities, and eliminating the nonvalueadded services.
  • Drive an efficient fridge/warehouse layout and space management plan.

  • Strong business acumen for effectively managing the costs and revenues.
  • Anticipating market and client opportunities and responding appropriately and effective in building customer relations.
  • Selfmanaging and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Professional demeanour and appearance and Interpersonal skills : 100 % accountable
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills and principles of managing services.
  • Geographical knowledge of clients, service providers, competition, economic trends etc.
  • Understanding client needs and anticipating the responds and changes appropriately.
  • Ability to persuade clients for accepting reasonable solutions.
  • Negotiation skills i.e., the ability for protecting the interests of the organization via negotiations.
  • Proficiency in computers, especially spreadsheets, MS office word outlook, Excel,
  • Be proficient in software programmes.
  • Budgeting skills, to set, monitor and control budget and expenditure.
  • Management skills in planning, reporting, measurement and prioritizing the work of others.
  • Understand Occupational hazards and standard safety precautions.
