A Vacancy for the Position of
Artisan Assistant has become available in Berlin (East London)

Purpose of Job:


Reporting to the Shift Foreman, the incumbent is required to perform manual labour tasks as part of the production team as instructed and required, and to assist the Foreman & Artisans on site with stripping, repairing, assembling, maintenance and installation of various types of equipment and machines.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following key performance areas:
  • Perform delegated tasks effectively to assist in achieving Company goals.
  • Assisting artisans with maintenance on machinery and buildings.
  • Assist Foreman & Artisan in stripping, repairing and assembling various types of machines.
  • Ensuring all tools and equipment are accounted for and cleaned/maintained properly.
  • Perform delegated tasks efficiently and effectively within allocated time frame.
  • Perform tasks in accordance to safety, health, environmental and quality work procedures and requirements.
  • Perform delegated general checks and housekeeping duties including workshop, machinery and equipment.
  • Assist in keeping the general workplace in good and clean condition.

Requirements:

Must reside in East London
Grade 12 or equivalent.

  • One year working experience in a factory environment.
  • Possession of a Code 08 Drivers licence would serve as an advantage.
  • Tertiary qualification with further studies / courses relevant to the maintenance and repairs of mechanical/electrical equipment, and installations will be advantageous.
  • Previous experience as an Electrical or Mechanical Assistant would be advantageous.
  • Job requires that incumbent must be fit to work physically and at heights.
  • Capacity to learn new skills quickly is essential for this position.
  • Ability to use equipment and tools.
  • Ability to communicate in the language suitable at the work environment (English).
  • Be willing & available to assist afterhours on adhoc emergency cases.
  • Willing to work standby if and when required having been given due notice.
