    Role Purpose
  • The purpose of the
    Team Leader Securities to ensure effective functioning of the securities functions through effective monitoring of all securities related functions

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Grade 1
  • JSE Settlements officer exam
  • Business related degree ( or studying towards a degree)
**Experience: - 3-5 years' experience in settlements.

  • Some proven experience of supervising (small team).
  • 35 experience working with BDA and Ecube.
**Knowledge

  • Sound knowledge of Stockbroking
  • Financial Market Knowledge

Duties & Responsibilities
**Monitoring all controls within the JSE regulations

  • Monitor that all settlements are done correctly on the appropriate settlement cycle.

Securities lending: Ensure that there are no short positions in a controlled or non-controlled client transaction that may affect the settlement cycle.

Share transfers
Internal and External: Monitor and ensure that the correct instructions are received from the client in order to process a share transfer.-
Paper based listed and unlisted securities: Ensure the correct details have been provided on the securities script receipt and captured accordingly onto the relevant system.

Misdeal: Process reversal of settled trades, processed after the settlement cycle.

ERD (Electronic report Download) report monitoring: Daily checking of the ERD report to ensure that it is accurate and valid, then sign it off.

Balancing of the CSDP (central Securities Depository participant) report: Review any differences between the JSE BDA and Momentum Securities' custodian and ensure that they are correct.

  • Prepare a monthly CSDP balancing report and send to the JSE.

Location of Securities: Ensure that the Securities are in the correct location.

  • Manage dividends and corporate events to ensure that Momentum Securities is up to date with all the events taking place.
  • Monitor the trades and settlement of bonds.
  • Monitor the settlement and trades of unit trusts.
  • Act as the primary settlement officer liaise with the JSE regarding any issues relating to settlements problems.
  • Manual settlement of Kruger Rands

Processing of other information relating Securities & Engagement with Clients

  • Process dividend journals
  • Daily update of cost prices
  • Engage with clients regarding queries such as dividends, selling of shares etc. and ensure that they are resolved.
**Effectively lead the securities team

  • Ensures effective performance of direct reports and manages nonperformance.
  • Conducts regular performance check ins on team goals.
  • Effective leave management (Employees take leave and is recorded).
  • Manages any conduct and performance issues.
