SUMMARY OF POSITION

Power Connect Systems experienced "electrical assistant" means an employee who is engaged in any or all the following tasks.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Previous training and experience with an accredited electrical company. Traceable, working experience.


Electrical assistant who undertakes any of the following tasks and who may use the tools necessary to perform such tasks.


  • Digging holes and trenches, planting poles and laying cables in trenches.
  • Chasing and cutting walls and concrete floors for conduit.
  • Loading or unloading materials.
  • Stripping redundant installations and equipment incidental thereto from which the supply cables have been removed.
  • Cleaning office, client premises and workshop areas after work is completed.
  • Installing and fixing of flush and surface mounted wireways and ancilliary equipment thereto.
  • Installing cables including the fitting of glands, making off and securing such cables, but excluding the connection thereof.
  • Assisting with erecting and connecting luminaires.
  • Assisting with operating a trenching machine once trained.
  • Assisting a master installation electrician, an installation electrician, an electrical tester for singlephase, an electrician, an artisan, a domestic appliance mechanic, a domestic appliance repairer and an Elconop 1, Elconop 2 or Elconop 3, but not performing any work individually except as set out above.
  • Attention to detail and neatness of both new installations and maintenance.
  • Adhering to all safety and performance standards.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Resolves issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Learning to manage of materials.
  • Willingness to work after hours at short notice.
  • Willingness to work after hours, weekends and on public holidays.
  • Willingness to travel to other provinces for new installations and or maintenance.
  • Assisting an installation electrician, an electrical tester for singlephase, an electrician or artisan and Elconop 1, Elconop 2 or Elconop 3, but not performing any work individually, except as set out above.
Training and promotion of employees is solely at the discretion of the employer.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 11, NTC 2 or Equivalent Certification (NQF Level 4).
  • Grade 12, NTC 3 or Equivalent Certification (NQF Level 4). Would be advantageous).
  • No Criminal record.
  • Sober habits and good time keeping.
  • Undergone onthejob training by the previous employer must be in possession of proof of proficiency as an Electrical Assistant issued by his previous employer.
  • Minimum of 3year traceable working experience working as an Electrical Assistant.
  • Working understanding of SANS Wiring of Premises)
  • Working understanding of OHS Act. (Occupational Health and Safety)
  • Valid unendorsed driver's license.
  • Electrical Certificate from a technical college (Any EW SETA certification would be advantageous.
  • Problemsolving skills.

  • Interpersonal and relationship skills.
  • Analytical Skills.
  • Problem solving skills.
