JOB PURPOSETo manage and lead the development and implementation of the Risk Management Portfolio in order to prepare and mitigate risks for the Gauteng Partnership Fund.


  • KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
The incumbent is expected to deliver on the following detailed key performance areas:

  • Strategic Management
  • Developing risk management strategies and models to provide effective and efficient risk prevention and mitigation solutions in line with the strategic objectives of the GPF
  • Providing market, credit, operational risk and assurance controls
  • Providing research and analytical support to business units
  • Policy Development and Implementation
  • Develop Comprehensive Risk Management and Mitigation policies
  • Monitor the implementation of risk management policies
  • Risk Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Designing and implementing an overall risk management process for the GPF, which includes an analysis of the financial impact on the GPF when risks occur
  • Performing risk assessments and establishing the organisation's risk appetite and tolerance levels
  • Analysing current risks and identifying potential risks that are affecting the company
  • Evaluating the GPF's previous handling of risks, and comparing potential risks with criteria set out by the GPF such as costs and legal requirements


 Budget Management
  • Preparing the Risk Management budget
  • Monitor financial expenditure for the Unit
  • Risk Reporting

Prepare reports for relevant committees in GPF:

  • Educating the board of directors about the most significant risks to the business;
  • Ensuring business heads understand the risks that might affect their business units;
  • Ensuring individuals understand their own accountability for individual risks;
  • Explaining the external risk posed by corporate governance to stakeholders
  • Business Continuity Plans Development
Develop and monitor implementation of business continuity plans to limit and mitigate risks

Providing market, credit, operational risk and assurance controls

Providing research and analytical support to business units

Conducting policy and compliance audits, which will include liaising with internal and external auditors

Implementing health and safety measures, and purchasing insurance

Maintaining records of insurance policies and claims

Reviewing any new major contracts or internal business proposals

Building risk awareness amongst staff by providing support and training within the company

  • Ad - Hoc Duties
Assignments from Chief Executive Officer/Chief Financial Officer/ Corporate Services Executive/ Chief Investment and Development Officer as and when required

  • Teamwork

Being pro-active in assisting others

Contribution to projects meetings and brain storming sessions

Mentoring and coaching of staff and interns

Liaising with various internal departments for smooth and quick turnaround of deals

  • APPOINTMENT REQUIREMENTS
  • A minimum of an appropriate recognised degree in Risk Management or a related field.
  • At least 4 years working as a Risk Manager or a similar role.
  • Superior analytical and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and high degree of personal initiative
  • Competency in MS Office and relevant databases and software
  • Customer focus and bottomline orientation
  • Well organized with excellent time management skills
