Overview

We are seeking an experienced professional in the payments sector, with expertise in implementing payment solutions in South Africa. This is a 12-month contract position, located in Johannesburg.

Project Scope: Drive sales and implementation of innovative payment solutions in South Africa.

Primary Role

  • Collaborate with internal business and product teams of the hiring organizations to comprehend the product (payments solution) and its benefits for both the organization and target clients.
  • Partner with internal business and product teams to identify potential clients who would gain from the solution and create a prioritized list of targets.
  • Develop a high-level business case for target clients to illustrate the potential impact of the solution.
  • Lead the Go-to-Market strategy for the payment solution.
  • Establish a generic/baseline implementation roadmap for target clients, encompassing people, processes, and technology aspects such as customer setup, onboarding, data migration, certificate exchange, etc.
  • Tailor the generic implementation roadmap based on the specific needs of target clients and ensure a successful implementation.
  • Offer Project Management Support to clients, guiding the implementation plan and solution deployment.
  • Relay client feedback to internal business and product teams to enhance the solution design and address any additional support needs, risks, or opportunities for client assistance.
  • Facilitate transfer of knowledge regarding product features and benefits and contribute to training material development to aid understanding of the new payments solution across client-facing and back-office teams.
  • Project success criteria include onboarding 3 live clients with the solution, uploading a total of 21 million alias records, and conducting over 10 million lookups within one year.

Secondary Role

  • Establish project governance for all client interactions.
  • Monitor project schedules and risks, ensuring timely resolution of any issues or deviations from plans.
  • Coordinate multi-client project meetings and status reports to ensure prompt execution of activities.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accessible project documentation for all stakeholders.
  • Communicate project progress and risks to stakeholders, including senior management through regular steering committees.
  • Cultivate relationships with project vendors and workstream owners, ensuring alignment with project objectives and deliverables.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards, including final reviews and sign-off from the client.

Requirements, Experience and Skills

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, technology, project management).

5+ years of experience in implementing payments projects at Banks in South Africa.

  • Extensive background in working with payment products in the South African region.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the South African payments landscape, payment rails, Card, EFT, Real Time Payments, and PayShap.
  • Demonstrated Project Management experience in implementing payment-related projects within South African Banks.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Proficient problem-solving and analytical abilities, adept at identifying and managing project risks.
  • Track record of managing schedules and resources, focusing on timely project delivery and meeting quality standards.
