Senior Procurement Specialist

The overall purpose of the position:

The purpose of the role is to play a senior role in supply chain negotiations of large utility scale solar projects and establish the necessary framework agreements, as well as facilitate the full supply chain process.

This needs to be done while providing support to the relevant departments, specifically relating to procurement and logistic activities.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Technical

  • Be able to initiate business and organization partnerships.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and suppliers.
  • Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with the specified budget, quality requirements and delivery targets.
  • Utilise best practices, strategies and methods to negotiate advantageous pricing and commercial terms with suppliers.
  • Examine and improve existing contracts.
  • Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements.
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
  • Run RFP processes, supplier vetting and generate purchase orders.
  • Control spend and build a culture of longterm saving on procurement costs.
  • Arranging and managing all logistics, documentation, bookings and tracking for various projects.
  • Follow up on orders and mitigate potential delays.
  • Assist with logging and processing warranty claims and tracking serial numbers of major equipment.
  • Receiving and reallocating stock to projects.
Administrative/Operational

  • Draw up schedules and update terms for supply agreements.
  • Process delivery notes.
  • Maintaining the supplier database with preferred suppliers, terms and goods procured from them.
  • Maintaining various price lists and product data registers for key equipment.
  • Maintain a logistics folder for all exports and imports.
  • Prepare reports and update as and when required.
  • Data capturing and filing on Google Drive and the ERP system.
  • Warehouse management, stock control and cycle counting.
Other general administration as and when required

Minimum Requirements:

  • A minimum 5 years experience in a similar capacity in the renewable energy industry (preferably solar).
  • Certificate or diploma in procurement/supply chain management.
  • Confident negotiator and extensive experience working with FIDIC or JBCC contracts.
  • Previous experience negotiating supplier agreements for large scale utility projects is critical.
  • Previous experience managing logistics (deliveries of goods/materials, planning and scheduling) will be advantageous.
  • Conscientious and strong administration skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and think on their feet.
  • Pay attention to detail and dedicated to delivering accurate work.
  • Must be fully proficient in English (verbal and written communication)
  • Must be fully computer literate (MS Office Suite and Google App Suite)
